Overview

Do you see yourself working in a community environment or local organisation? Do you enjoy supporting others? If so, a career in community service beckons.

This qualification is your gateway to a variety of entry level roles in the community sector. It targets the skills, knowledge and interpersonal qualities you need to work in person-centred, service-oriented settings. This includes working with diverse communities, responding to client needs, working within community development frameworks, following safe work practices, and organising workplace information.

Possible roles range from the day-to-day support of individuals to the implementation of specific programs.

Graduates at this level typically work under the direction of others, with both direct and indirect supervision.

This qualification applies to community work delivered through a broad range of services which provide support to individuals and groups.

Entry requirements

There are no prerequisites for this course.

All students will engage in a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) activity to evaluate potential support requirements. Students who are funded are required to complete an alternative and similar activity.

Units

Course consists of 12 units … 5 core units and 7 electives. Assessment activities will include a holistic assessment.
